Personal Picks! 8 Webtoon Series I’d Love To Have An Animation

Noblesse

It has been quite my hobby to look for  more versions of how a series is told – like if it has manga, anime or movie adaptation. It may either be because of curiosity or (dis)contentment or simply for hoarding purposes.  Sadly, the manhwa that I have read, as far as my resources are concern, don’t have any adaptation as of yet. Or do I have to advance my stalking to see? I honestly don’t know if webtoons aren’t just meant to be animated or what. But if that’s the case, somebody please tell me so I don’t have to wait forever. >_<

So here’s my list in no particular order of liking:

1. Cheese in the Trap (Ongoing)

Summary

Having returned to college after a year long break, Hong Sul, a hard-working over-achiever, inadvertently got on the wrong side of a suspiciously perfect senior named Yoo Jung. From then on, her life took a turn for the worse and Sul was almost certain it was all Yoo Jung’s doing. So why is he suddenly acting so friendly a year later?

At first it didn’t really appeal good to me as the first few chapters are too slow-paced. The main plot’s development took quite awhile to get to the point. However, I got to understand little by little what the author was trying to get across. Considering the many genres it has,  there are too many subplots. Although at the later part they were all explained how they’re connected to each other. What I like about this manhwa is that I don’t get to predict the next happening. Perhaps it’s just my slow comprehension of the events but every time I try to guess what’s gonna happen next, I don’t always get it right. So my hunger for the next chapters is always at the hungriest level. Currently, it is on its 90th chapter which was released on Valentines Day. Actually, this manhwa already has its TV series in Korea of the same title. Until all the episodes are aired, I won’t be watching it yet. So given that it has its adaptation,  why did I include this in my list? Come on! We all love the 2D world.

2. Untouchable (Ongoing)

Summary

Vampires! Blood-draining, cold-hearted hunters who entice humans in with their supreme beauty and feed on them with hidden cruelty – that’s the way they are still seen by society. However, the real species has long forsaken their dependence on blood. They’ve evolved into peaceful members of society who rely on human touch to sustain their energy. This is the story of a ditsy vampire longing to touch her love interest.

This. This is the one manhwa that I am always excited for reading every new chapter when it comes to the shoujo category. It’s just getting interesting as to how will Sia, the vampire, handle her feelings for her prey-turned-boyfriend love interest. The romance and the comedy and drama are easily observable, especially the romance part. Yup, I’m that girl. XD I have always loved fictional love stories, so you can’t really blame me if I am so into this forbidden vampire-human affair. Another factor that has attracted me to this webtoon is the illustration itself. It’s undeniably clean and oh excuse my drooling the characters themselves! Bishounen level 999! The story is currently getting more interesting as Sia’s bestfriend, Bariu has confessed his long unrequited love for her. I wonder how will Sia manage two bishies falling head over heels for her. Who would not want these lovelies to be animated? I hope it’s not you. But what I do wish is for updates to be regularly released. Please? (ง’̀-‘́)ง(ง’̀-‘́)ง

3. Noblesse (Ongoing)

Summary

He awakens. For 820 years he has slumbered with no knowledge of mankind’s advancements and scientific achievements. The land which he once knew has become an unfamiliar place with new technologies, attitudes, and lifestyles. Cadis Etrama Di Raizel, Rai, while seeking to familiarize himself with this era, somehow locates a loyal servant of his, Frankenstein, who is currently the principal of a South Korean high school. Rai decides that this high school would be the perfect place to help him learn about the new world. He enrolls, and suddenly becomes the friend of Shinwoo, an immature teenager who is also a master martial artist. But this new world is no safer than the old, and the dignified, bewildered, technologically illiterate Rai finds himself caught up in adventures both hilarious and dangerous.

Action-packed. Full of witty comebacks. Dramatic. Funny. And a handful of male protagonists that I can make lots of husbandos from. And recently, an OVA has been released! Hopefully, it goes all the way to the many episodes. Because I have been waiting my whole life for one of my faves to be animated and this is it! I love how Frankenstein stays so loyal to Rai after all those long years of separation. I love how Rai,  the highest of the nobles, enjoys learning a simple mundane life. I love how Takio, M21 and Tao pay so much respect and dedication to their new masters despite the fact that they’re their former enemies. I love how few clan leaders remain faithful to their lord even after being betrayed by the many others. I love how they all can still display a picture of a family even though they’re in the middle of a webbed disarray caused by greed of power and vengeance. I love just about everything in it.

4. Black Haze (Ongoing)

Summary

This follows the story of Rood Chrishi, a boy who carries a secret -he is actually the famous Black Magician, Blow, one of the youngest but strongest magicians in the world. In spite of this, lately, his organization’s master has only been sending him out on trivial missions, like running errands and orchestrating petty revenge schemes for clients. One day, Rood encounters the powerful Duchess Dayner Artian, who has come to request for his organization’s help. Her second son, Lidusis, has not been fitting in well at school, so she would like Rood to help him out. To do so, Rood must go undercover as a student at the famed school of magic, Helios, and find out just why everyone calls the son of an esteemed duke, a ‘Monster’. Of course, Rood soon comes to realize that there is a lot more going on at this exclusive school than meets the eye …

Chapter_67.png

This series is just as amazing as the Noblesse.  It speaks highly of friendship, duty, loyalty, trust, revenge, greed, power and love. How each of these attributes can create a wide-range chaos, strengthen newly-formed bonds and uncover dark secrets of the past are the major questions this manhwa shoots off. I find it really amusing answering each of these while skimming through the chapters. Aside from the main protagonist, Blow, there’s this one character I love so much – Shicmuon. As Wikia describes him, Shicmuon is usually a quiet individual but can become abrasive and ruthless when it comes to fighting, especially when it involves the Black Magician. He is quite popular with the ladies at Helios but he doesn’t seem to care much for this. When he was first introduced in Chapter 3, he was seen obsessing over something. His obsession is revealed to be the Black Magician and claims to have gone to every mission where he might have appeared. They’re like a couple in an everyday fight. XD Shicmuon appears almost everywhere and whenever he does, everybody else is fighting with one another. But what’s amusing about the fights between these two is that most of the time, it turns out stopping the greater battle. At the current chapter, Blow has joined the Tower, a council full of top magicians that has long been wanting to claim the power sleeping inside him. Now the truth is yet to unravel. But before it does, I hope it gets an anime first!

5. Abide In The Wind (Ongoing)

Summary

One day, 18-year-old craftsman apprentice Reana Forte encounters a wounded creature in the wilderness. When she approaches it, a disembodied voice tells her that this creature is Dragon Lord Kairak. He has been mortally wounded but can be saved using a little bit of her help. She agrees to heal him but in the process the dragon pearl – the source of a dragon’s power and life force – embeds itself in her body. Since the dragon cannot part with the dragon pearl the voice she heard, a spirit guide called Didan, requests that Reana let them live with her for a year. Until Kairak, who takes on the form of a beautiful boy, fully matures and can reclaim the dragon pearl.

Reana-Kairak.jpeg

One loophole of this series is that it presents a lot of characters. Another is  having long narrations which obviously is a mood-killer. Although I understand that at some point these narrations are necessary. Currently, Reana is being held capture by one of the princes who wants to bring the King down. I am curious to know as to how will she manage to escape to find Kairak knowing that the dragon weakens when he’s apart from his dragon pearl. Or, will she even try to escape considering that the people she wants to see are being used to blackmail her. I don’t particularly like the flow of the story at the moment  as there’s still much to happen. But I do want to see how it’d turn out if it’s ever animated.

6. ReLIFE (Ongoing)

Summary

The story follows Kaizaki Arata, a 27-year-old jobless man who fails at every job interview he had after quitting his last company which he only lasted at for three months. His life changes after meeting Yoake Ryou of the ReLife Research Institute, who offers him a drug that can change his appearance to 17-years-old again and to become a subject in a one-year experiment in which he begins his life as a high school student again.

20160525_153235

This series can be depressing at times. When you read it you’d just suddenly imagine how productive or unproductive you may have been in all the years of your existence. Like how badly you want things to change but they just wouldn’t because you’ve become  a neet due to some incidents. While it is true that this series depicts sadness, it also shows how one can still have hope and how he can use it to get back up and be humanly active once again. The story simply shows that “Second chances don’t come around all that often. I suggest you take a really close look at it” – quoting Dr. Hank Pym of Ant-Man. When you’re given a second chance, give it your all, as this may be your last chance to do things straight. But there’s more to learn yet from Kaizaki and his ReLife. But before anything else, an animation is really really needed! XD

The next two, I have yet to catch up with the updates but no doubt that I definitely want an anime for both!

7.  The Gamer (Ongoing)

Summary

Han Jee-Han, a normal high school student, suddenly develops a special power where his entire world is shifted into a game-like setting. He can see the power levels of people, look at the stats of a seemingly normal item, get abilities, and even level up!

LVL UP.JPG

I am no gamer. But I do play quite a few in my phone – Minecraft PE, PBA Slam, Stick-man Basketball, Volleyball Champions 3D, sometimes CoC and I’m planning on getting Dungeon Hunter 4. These are free games from Google Play. I’m not one to invest on a game unless you recommend one that’s proven and tested worth the penny, then yes. And so I really find this series entertaining. I know people that are really into gaming and some of them integrate gaming into the 3D planet. Like my classmate in college, he could relate all our talks into games. We didn’t have a single discussion that did not include his gaming style, skills and abilities – which initially sounded very weird. But when I started to engage myself into light games, it changed from very weird to weird. Yes, he’s still weird. XD What I like about this one is that it describes things that a non-gamer can easily understand. I also like Jee-Han’s innocent but eager spirit when it comes to learning more of this unique ability he has. And guess what? He’s not the only one that acquired an ability ordinary human can’t possibly have. So it would totally be great to see all the scenes, especially the fighting scenes in an animation. P.S. Jee-Han wants to know his power’s nature as much as I do.

8. Girls Of The Wild’s (Ongoing)

 Summary

Wild’s High has a 42-year history as a fighting specialized, girls only, private high school meant solely for the elite. It is also the place that Wild’s-League is held: the most popular event in the country and the only place in the world where teenage girls have brutal fights with their lives on the line. One year the school changed from a girls only school to a mixed gender school. The only male student, Song Jae Gu, has been granted a full 3-year scholarship regardless of grades. Being someone who had to spend every moment either working or taking care of his younger brother and sister, he accepted. But after meeting Queen, the bloody champion of Wild’s-League, drenching her in coffee, calling her a monster, and getting caught seeing her while she was taking a shower… his scholarship could prove fatal.

LVL UP.JPG

I am not really into regular harem because I don’t like the idea of all the girls flaunting around one guy (although I’m OK with all the guys flocking around a girl. Haha. Kidding), I have to give this one an exception. I have never liked seeing girls fight outrageously but seeing how these beautiful ladies become wild for the joy of sports, pride [and love], I have yet to give  another exception. As I have previously implied, fight scenes are always beautiful when the pictures are moving. I don’t just want to settle into swiping (my phone’s screen) right and left or scrolling (my laptop’s screen) up and down. I want to sit back and watch how powerful women can be. I am not a feminist. Nope.

And that’s my list! I have yet to check out a few more webtoons. But I haven’t decided which to read first. Maybe I’ll jump to some Chinese manhua next. I heard of cool ones, I might go check them out as well. But that’s all for now. Jaa~

  1. Oh my, looks like we have the same tastes for manwhas! I was actually thinking of making a post about them too but looks like you beat me to it. Haha!

I love the first four in the list so much. .<
For The Gamer and Girls of the Wilds i have them on-hold for a while now.

Ugh, this post washed all my sleepiness away. It's like adrenaline rush and now i don't know if i can still sleep, lol.

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Oh. Haha. I’m sorry Kira-chan! But I think you can still do the post. This is just my lame way of saying I like these manhwas. Haha. I know you’ve got more to say 😉

The otaku-telepathy it is. I love the first four of my list as well. And the ones you put on hold, are the ones I’ve put on hold too after reading some chapters 😀 Just lie down. Raizel’s gonna put you to sleep. He got your back. But I mean not the eternal sleep, okay? 😛

      Liked by 1 person

      1. Haha, i’m still thinking of doing it but maybe on a later date. My backlog kept increasing, ugh. >.< This is not even a bit lame. It's awesome that we even like the same manwhas. I might add just a bit, more of my fangirling over these series. xD
I guess it is! I hope i can experience that with others too, haha. Oh, i might not be able to sleep if it's Rai. I'd rather stare at him all night. 😀 Oh no, not the eternal sleep. I still have a lot of manga to read and anime to watch. xD

        Liked by 1 person

      2. Did you just mention fangirling? Now I am even more looking forward to your list! 😉

Well, I think we can. We just gotta do a little stalking so we’d be able to know the right timing and poof! (nothing happens. lol) Yeah, I would love to sleep eternally with Rai but not yet. I too have lots to watch and read first. Haha. I think Rai will be patiently waiting.

        Liked by 1 person

      3. You can expect the first four on your list to be there so of course i’d be fangirling a lot. 😀
So that’s how otaku-telepathy works? Haha, i might have to polish my stalking skills. xD I can understand you wanting to sleep eternally with Rai. He’s just so elegant and charming, i can totally see him patiently waiting. xD

        Liked by 1 person

      4. I know you’ll make a great fangirl. I’m proud of you already. *cuts the crown half and shares with Kira* XD I guess so. Why not we harness our skills together? Two heads are better than one. Haha. Yep, he is. But I’d like to be with Tao more than Rai. He’s just so stylish. He’s the one guy that could pull off an off-shoulder tops. And I’m just lovin’ it XD

        Liked by 1 person

      5. Oh really? Aww how nice of you, thanks! XD That’s be good. It’s nice to have a partner (in crime). Haha. Oh, I like Tao too. Yes, he’s the only straight guy i’ve seen wearing off-shoulder tops and still look good in it. XD But if i’m going to pick, aside from Rai, i like M-21 the most. I just love those types who doesn’t talk much but are kindhearted inside. ❤

        Liked by 1 person

      6. Yay! Now I got my partner in crime! Haha. I need to follow you on Twitter. (excuse the segue, haha) Yas! M21 is a kuudere-tsundere. I like him too. Actually I like the Rai-Knights! XD

        Liked by 1 person

      7. You need to have Twitter so I can stalk you! >//< Haha. Kidding. Well Shiro told me actually that she's been trying to drag you there. And I'm thinking of joining her on the mission 😛

Oh yes. Lazark mah boi. He's the first to die right? (ಥ﹏ಥ)

        Liked by 1 person

      8. Well, i’m considering it… Yup, she is and both of you persuading me is not good. I might get persuaded! XD Yes, that’s really the saddest part of Noblesse for now. I really cried coz he’s one of my favs and yes, he’s the first to die among the nobles. (ᅲ﹏ᅲ)

        Liked by 1 person

      9. Shall I take that as a yes? Haha. And I do agree that it’s the saddest atm. He’s one loyal noble. The emotional part was when Rael found out that his big bro was dead Q_Q

        Liked by 1 person

      10. Haha, maybe? 😛 Yup, I actually didn’t like Rael coz of his personality but he really respects his brother and it’s really heartbreaking when he found out about his death. =﹏=

        Liked by 1 person

      11. You no tease me Kira-chan. Get Twitter naw, pweath! (• ε •)

Heartbreaking indeed. It’s obvious he loves his brother but he just didn’t have the chance to show it to him. Rael is another tsundere in the series. Now it’s too late. >//<

        Liked by 1 person

      12. Ayt no problem! We will wait no matter what. Muahaha ( ͡°( ͡° ͜ʖ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)ʖ ͡°) ͡°) I’m actually having a review too this May or June for my board exam. But dropping by Twitter from time to time would help I think? XD I don’t know really and I can’t stop now since Twitter came first before my review haha. :3

        Liked by 1 person

      13. Oh really? Good luck and God bless you on your exam. 🙂 I’m thinking of focusing on my review so i might not be able to visit most of my sns accounts. But i guess it’s a way to relax during those times too.

        Liked by 1 person

      14. You too! I understand as much. This conversation is actually making me think. Haha. I would have to weigh things seriously considering that I’m too one-sided, not a skillful multi-tasker. Sigh. Oh btw, I sent you an email 😛

        Like

      15. I can’t really multitask too and i tend to get absorbed in things like reading manga, watching anime and surfing the net when i should be reviewing. That ‘one more… ‘ or ‘this is gonna be the last…’ kept repeating a few more times before it actually sink in.

        Liked by 1 person

      16. Awwe yes! That’s me all the time. >//< Especially when I'm in my phone which I can bring out anytime – like anytime and anyplace, and then I just can't stop myself. I actually needed some time off my phone, like getting lost in a forest or something where reception is literally flat.

Especially in your case, engineering board exams sure is hard. I have friends of the same course as you and they didn't contact me at all until their names are posted in the passers list. So I do understand you. Twitter can wait. I'm just teasing you. 😛

        Like

      17. Well, i’m one who doesn’t use my phone much tho. It’s always my laptop. In my hometown before, you have to go to high places to get a signal. Reception has improved now but i’m still not fond of texting or even using my phone apps.
Yup, and our national passing rate is really low, always below 40% so it’s really a challenge. Haha, i don’t really mind. A little fun can really relieve the stress accumulated during review. 🙂

        Liked by 1 person

      18. Really? Ahhh I envy you. I hope I could become less phone dependent like you. But work and stuff are mostly thru online messaging. That’s why >//< My hometown as well used to have poor reception but now it's been improved, so I can't call my homecoming an escape from the city anymore. T^T

Mind if I ask what country are you from Kira-chan? (actually I sent you that question thru your email Haha) I'm from PH btw if you still don't know Huehehe.

        Like

      19. Haha, but being laptop-dependent isn’t that much better tho. So you’re working already? I thought you’re still studying.
Same, i’m from PH too. Haha, i already guessed that we’re from the same country coz of your trips but i always forget to confirm. XD Sorry, i haven’t checked my email yet. Haha.

        Liked by 1 person

      20. Well, I’m an alumna for two years now (two years this April to be exact) XD I haven’t taken the board exam yet for various reasons, so for the time being I decided to work. (Disadvantage of not being a student anymore. Nobody gives you allowance. Haha) Cool! Another PH buddy! (~˘▾˘)~ I started my guess when you mentioned engineering and stuff and I thought they’re kind of familiar. Haha. I would be very happy if we’re from the same city or region at least. (ง’̀-‘́)ง

        Liked by 1 person

      21. Oh, i should’ve graduated last year if i took a four-year course. Now it’s like i am studying for 6 years coz i still have a board exam. T_T You’re a teacher right? Same with my sister. What do you major in? I really want to work already and earn my own money. I’m from region 4-A Quezon Province. 🙂

        Liked by 1 person

      22. Really? Cool! I majored in BioSci. But we had most branches of Science. The curriculum’s name wasn’t changed in time so we had to use it all the way. But I heard it was supposed to be GenSci. Yeah, board exam sucks. Haha. But sadly, it’s our ticket to employment – at least to the field we studied in. Working and earning your own money is nice, but I’m missing school already. I miss that life. Haha. There’s just so much in the “adult” world. Lol

        Liked by 1 person

      23. Oh, are you teaching in a school now? Yeah, it sucks. But passing the board exam is fulfilling and gives you confidence too. I’ve heard a lot of graduates say that they miss their school life while here i am, can’t wait to be independent. Haha. Well, it may be because we can still take things easy when we’re still studying. I guess getting a failed mark for a test is better than getting fired. x_x

        Like

      24. I’m not teaching yet, but I will once I pass the exam. Or once my papers are fixed. Sigh. You will soon be called a graduate too. Can’t wait to hear you say that you miss school too. Haha 😛 And yes, failed mark is better than getting fired. No kidding. It’s just unfair that people would say that it’s normal for a student to fail an exam, but not normal for an adult to be fired. Well, that’s society for you. >//<

        Liked by 1 person

      25. Oh, then what kind of work are you doing nowadays? My sister actually just started last year and it took a lot of time to process her papers. She got assigned in a remote area a little far from our hometown. That’s how it goes with new teachers, she said. Well, i don’t know if that’d happen but right now i’m really glad that i’m graduating already. Haha. Hmm, people aren’t fair in a lot of aspects anyway. I guess that’s human nature.

        Liked by 1 person

      26. Yas. That’s how it goes for new teachers indeed. Unless you got some backer that would endorse you to nearby schools. I’m currently in a BPO. First job, night shift. Gladly I don’t work as voice rep. Or I would have been long gone from the face of the earth. lol. Yep, we really never know. Just enjoy your graduating moments. You’ll soon miss that. Mwahaha. And this human nature is always so fascinating.

        Liked by 1 person

      27. Yup, and my sister kept talking about how the salary’s late for all the new teachers in their school. Maybe that’s what happens with those in other schools too. Oh, night shift? I heard that night shifts are not good for one’s health but I hope you’re doing fine. 🙂 We’re actually having more free time this month–less classes and more holidays–which is really great. I’m really gonna miss the days where our class rep will text us that there’s no class the next day. XD Humans are interesting beings anyway. No one is alike. 😀

        Liked by 1 person

      28. Late salary. I haven’t heard of that but that’s quite alarming. I am doing fine with the night shift but I am not liking it anymore. I feel less human. Haha. I’ll be quitting soon I think. I need to get a day-time job or else I’d lost my humanity. Haha. Aww yeah, now that you mentioned it. I’m missing that one too. T-T Sometimes we tease ourselves now and tag one another about an exam or a quiz and then anybody who catches up slow will be left wondering what quiz/exam are we talking about. Lol

        Liked by 1 person

      29. Oh, but looks like it’s gonna be regular this coming May which is good. Yup, night shifts can turn you into a vampire or a panda. Jk! Haha. A day job is certainly better. Go for it! 🙂
Haha, i wonder if we’ll do that soon too. Those who are slow in catching up might have already moved on from their college life or just too busy with work/life. XD

        Liked by 1 person

      30. Oh thats good to hear then. Well, I bet the gov’t always has it rough whenever it comes employees wages. But I dont mind becoming either vampire or a panda though. Haha. And yes, they might have already moved on but we can always give them a beating as reminder. 😈

      1. Oh. Well, The Gamer took quite a long time to set up the plot so the first chapters of season 1 were all explanations and stuff. But action starts at season 2. Noblesse really is. I hope it gets animated really. QQ

        Liked by 1 person

    1. I am just about to start ToG. I heard it’s a great one too! It might be added to my list. And yas, Abide in the Wind is one I’d love to see being animated. Although I hope the narrations would not be there.

      1. I think I haven’t seen any ghibli-produced projects yet. But based from your reaction, then it would be great if they get their hands on these lovely series. Yes I do hope too! Thank you. XD

      2. I cant thank you enough for these recommendations. Haha. Because I’d be able to know how amazing Ghibli is! Better late than never. 😛 Are these all anime films?

        Liked by 1 person

      3. Aw np:) THey’re really well known and liked by ppl who even don’t like anime. And yep they are! Also, these are Mamoru Hosada films-he’s quickly becoming the next Ghibli Hayao Miyazaki since Miyazaki is getting older. Wolf Children is absolultely amazing and I cannot recommend it enough. The English dub is FANTASTIC. Actually all the dubs for ghibli and hosada films are GREAT.

        Liked by 1 person

      4. I’m sorry for getting back this late to you. And yes I am now in the process of collecting the ghibli movies you recommended. Thanks to you I get to discover more of anime. XD

      5. Np:) Don’t worry, I’ve been pretty busy lately. And awww I’m glad you’re getting them. They really are great and make you feel like a kid again. ANd I highly recommend the English dub if you have it on them. They are fantastic. The Japanese is good of course, but they outdid themselves on the English dubs.

      6. Oh okay. I was about to get the subbed ones haha. But if you say so, then I’ll trust you. I’ll watch the dubbed ones then.

      7. When it comes to anime I always get the subbed ones tbh. But I think it’s time I try the dubbed. They are not bad. I just dont feel so anime’ish when it’s dubbed. Haha.
